Star Wars: The Franchise Strikes Back

Then there’s Star Wars The Force Awakens which is expected to be the next staple in the franchise and undoubtedly one of the biggest movies of 2015. The movie was announced to be released on December 18, 2015 little more than a month after its video game predecessor. They are bringing back some of the old movies crew to give the movie a more nostalgic feel. Members such as Harrison Ford ( Han Solo ), Mark Hamill ( Luke Skywalker ), and Carrie Fisher ( Leia Organa, i.e. Princess Leia ) are once again on the cast for the seventh cinematic installment of the franchise. They have also introduced some newer characters ( Finn and Rey ) that are believed to play a crucial role in the movie. The final bit of information leaked was the new planet featured which was the home planet of Rey. It is going to be a desert planet similar to Tatooine called Jakku. Other than this information not much more is known about the movie. Despite the vague leaks and teasers over a year of preparation and anticipation is finally nearing an end. Fans and critics everywhere will soon have their opportunity to return to the galaxy that made their childhood.

Whether or not you say you like Star Wars you cannot deny the fact that it is one of the most successful and recognizable franchises in all of human existence. It is back again, awakened, with a vengeance.

As for gameplay so far only leaks have been released and nothing official from the developers themselves. However, Star Wars related leaks have been reliable in the past. Speculation points to 40-player lobbies with space to ground battles as a feature and the return of the “Hero” system from previous Battlefront games. The hero system in a blatant sense is to be interpreted as a sort of killstreak or ordinance from prior fps genre games. Essentially after the player accumulates a certain amount of points or kills they will get the opportunity to play as an iconic character from the Star Wars franchise such as Luke Skywalker and Mace Windu, or more sinister characters such as Count Dooku and Darth Vader depending on what faction you choose to play as. It is also said from Star Wars fan sites that the campaign for the game will be incredibly lengthy in comparison to its genre counterparts with some sort of teaser in correlation to the movie scheduled to come out after the games release. In regard to the franchises iconic conquest mode it has been said that it may not be in the game to begin with. Again these rumors have been neither confirmed nor denied by the game developers so far all we know for certain is that the game will have both Hoth and Endor as playable maps for multiplayer.

More realistically like April 17, 2015 the day in which both the next Star Wars movie and game trailers were released. That’s right Comic-Con geeks and Star Wars nerds in general, possibly the most recognizable and most loved franchise in cinematic history is on the prowl yet again. Prepare your fragile minds for something that the world was not ready for. Star Wars The Force Awakens and Star Wars Battlefront 3 have both been announced for release in late 2015 and for thousands of people, (modest estimation) the anticipation couldn’t be higher.

37 billion dollars and increasing daily the franchise is ready to yet again bolster it’s gross value with these powerhouse releases.

First up to the plate is the third installment of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise which has, for the most part, had very limited information released. It is predicted that the game is to release around November 17, 2015. With Dice and Electronic Arts (EA) being the game developers the game will be run off of a Frostbite 3 engine meaning the graphics will be undoubtedly phenomenal with an interactive environment to boot and since the game is exclusive to next-gen consoles  and pc we can only expect greatness.
