Campus Musicians

Canyon Ridge, such a small school, yet such inspiration and talent within our miniscule community.

Two students have a powerful voice in this school, through the art of singing and instruments.

Oscar Garcia and Gerrardo Gonzales are two of the many talented people here at Canyon Ridge High School. Countless hours of practice and dedication result in some of the best Corridos I've heard.

These two talented artists have managed to be successful in the art of music through their pure striving for success. It is easy to see that the hard work these young men put in is certainly paying off in a positive manner.

Each note struck, each key played, seemed to fill the room with an electric and energetic feeling. The uplifting tone of the music seemed to enlighten whoever heard the music. It is amazing how two people can connect with other people through the art and distinguished sound of music.

The sound of Oscar's 12 string guitar complements Gerardo's accordion in a pleasant and delightful way. When both those instruments are played, combined with the uplifting voice of Gerardo, it seems to ignite a spark of pure perfection.

Passion, dedication, and determination, these are but few words that can express what our local musicians experience day after day. Such young men, with the endless desire  to succeed in life doing what they love. Canyon Ridge, home of the Ravens, is home to some amazing talent within our small community.

Gerrardo Gonzales gives us an insight on how family plays an important role with his music career.

“What motivated me to play this instrument is when I’m on the road with my mom, we usually listen to the radio, and listen to this type of music. That inspired me to step up my game and play music.”

Oscar Garcia also shows us how family not only encourages him, but also helps him strive forward in his musical career.

“We have a group, with me and my brothers and also my friend. We are basically like a normal Norteño group.

Garcia expresses his passion towards music, and the feeling and the passion that a live crowd gives off.

“I got the chance to play at a nightclub; it was pretty nice. I liked the reaction the the people had, because there’s not that many kids playing in a group like this, and it is was really nice to see the faces on the people."
